Intro

Rio de Janeiro, RJ, 1975. Lives and works in São Paulo, SP.

Débora Bolzsoni is known for her works with three-dimensional shapes that relate to the architecture of spaces and the urbanism of cities. Her work is often presented as a questioning of the social and political conditioning linked to the materials used. Almost always her works require extra care on the part of the observer because either their physical integrity or that of the observer himself is put at risk in this contact. The permanence of his objects and the duration of the experience they give rise to are often incongruous, the eminent fragility with which her works are placed in space is a call to careful enjoyment, as if the repetition of such an attitude were an opportunity for the observer, a kind of training for a way of relating to reality in a more attentive way.

Master in Fine Arts from USP, in 2013, Débora Bolzsoni grew up in the suburbs of Rio de Janeiro, between the natural landscape and the environment of unfinished and continuous constructions, characteristic of the peripheral regions of the country's large cities. These contexts are reflected in the simultaneously empirical and reflexive character of her production.

Among her main solo exhibitions are: 2019 - Lição de Mimese (Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo - São Paulo, Brazil); 2018 - Coffee and alphabets (Bendana | Pinel Art Contemporain - Paris, France); 2017 - No names but names (Drawing Lab - Paris, France); Pra Quietar (Athena Gallery - Rio de Janeiro, Brazil); 2016 - Descaracter (Jaqueline Martins Gallery - São Paulo, Brazil); 2006 - Pampulha Cave (Pampulha Art Museum - Belo Horizonte, Brazil), among others.

Among her main group exhibitions are: 2020 - As far as the view reaches (Galeria Athena - Rio de Janeiro, Brazil); Art in the Field (Estádio do Pacaembú - São Paulo, Brazil); 2018 - Poetry and Visual Arts (Galeria Superfície - São Paulo, Brazil); 2017 - Urban Interventions (Museum of Modern Art of Rio de Janeiro - Rio de Janeiro, Brazil); 2016 - Condo (The Sunday Painter - London, United Kingdom); 2015 - Southern Panoramas - 19th Contemporary Art Festival SESC_Videobrasil (SESC Pompéia - São Paulo, Brazil); 2014 - Food | Art and Construction of the Brazilian Food Heritage (Museum of Modern Art of Rio de Janeiro - Rio de Janeiro, Brazil); 2009 - 7th Mercosul Biennial: Shout and Listen - Mostra Absurdo (Porto Alegre, Brazil); among others.

Her works are in important collections such as Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo (São Paulo, Brazil), Museu de Arte do Rio (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), Remisen-Brande Art Collection (Brande, Denmark), Museu de Arte Moderna de São Paulo (São Paulo, Brazil), among others.
